July: Relaxation and Sun

July invites us to embrace the full bloom of summer’s energy. It is the peak season for wheat and barley. Water lilies and Larkspur are in full bloom. Mid July in the southern states and the southern hemisphere you can witness the Delta Aquariid meteor shower.

In 1518 the “Dancing Plague” occurred in Strasbourg, Alsace (present day France). The town saw approximately 400 people dancing uncontrollably. They believe it might have been caused by it being so hot. This leads me to the Sirius the “Dog Star”. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed Sirius caused the heat in July that lead to the madness in people and animals.

July is National Ice Cream Month! And did you know holly blooms in July. That gives a new meaning to Christmas in July. 😊

What does Julius Caesar have to do with July? July was named after him.
